ArtHouse 43 will open up a new art exhibition this September called City Art Connections. This exhibit will feature prominent artists from Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Lansing. The show is free to the public and will run from September 20 through September 29. Opening night is Friday, September 20, starting at 5PM.
City Art Connections is a brand new series of art exhibits which brings together artists from different cities in Michigan to display their work. “The idea is to give people a sense of what’s happening artistically in other cities,“ says ArtHouse 43 founder Troy Ramos. “We really like the idea of artists and supporters from different areas sharing their work and their experiences with each other.“
Ramos said that in future exhibits, each new exhibit in the City Art Connections series will involve different artists from different cities. He said they picked BC, Kalamazoo and Lansing for this first series because they have a lot of experience in West and Mid Michigan. “We’re more familiar with what’s happening artistically in these three cities than anywhere else in the state. There’s really good art being created in these cities and I wanted to give the public a chance to see that, all together in one exhibit.“
The artists on this first City Art Connections series are Jaziel Pugh, Kaitlyn Rode, Justin Andert,Britta Urness, Paul Marquardt, Shawn Dyer and Troy Ramos. This exhibit will take place at the Eclectic Gallery in downtown Battle Creek at 60 Calhoun St. During the exhibition, the gallery will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-3PM and Fridays from 5PM until late.
This show is sponsored in part by a WK Kellogg/Battle Creek Community Foundation community arts and culture grant and is also sponsored in part by BC Vision. ArtHouse 43 is enormously grateful to have their support. “We cannot thank our sponsors enough. Their support means absolutely everything. They truly are patrons of the arts and I hope the general public recognizes their efforts and contributions.”
